Technology
At Nippon Shaft, we’re not just shaping steel—we’ve engineered the very material that powers performance. Our proprietary use of advanced steel alloys like SAE8655 and NZNS60 has revolutionized our entire shaft lineup, including the N.S.PRO, MODUS³, neo, N.S.PRO Putter models, and Zelos series. These alloys offer an optimal balance of strength, flexibility, and feel, ensuring a consistent and responsive shaft, no matter your swing speed or style or club choice.
Heat Treatment Mastery (MHT)
Our Multi Heat Treatment (MHT) Technology takes this one step further by applying different heat treatments to specific sections of the shaft. This process allows us to fine-tune the stiffness, feel, and performance throughout the shaft, creating a dynamic response that matches the player's needs. For example, the butt section may receive a heat treatment to enhance feel, while the tip section is treated to provide stability and control.
This innovation unlocks a level of customization that ensures a smoother, more consistent feel from shot to shot, promoting confidence in every swing. Whether you’re using our MODUS³ Tour or the ultra-light Zelos shaft, our steel alloys and MHT technology provide the perfect blend of performance, precision, and power.
Multi-Shape Adjustment (MSA)
Multi Shape Adjustment (MSA) Technology represents another Nippon Shaft proprietary approach to shaft design by allowing us to adjust wall thicknesses at different points along the shaft. Through MSA, our engineers can manipulate the geometry of the shaft to create distinct bend profiles, offering golfers a personalized combination of feel and performance that’s finely tuned for their swing.
By varying the wall thickness in specific sections of the shaft—such as the butt, midsection, and tip—MSA can influence the flexibility and stability of each section independently. For instance, a thicker butt section can provide more feel and stability, while a thinner tip section may increase ball speed and promote a more responsive feel. This customization allows for shafts with unique bend profiles that match a player’s desired characteristics, whether it's a smoother release, increased control, or more power.
This level of control allows us to tune performance and feel in ways that other shaft manufacturers simply can’t match. While traditional shafts might have a uniform wall thickness, limiting their ability to vary flex and feel across the shaft, our MSA technology unlocks a broader spectrum of potential. It allows us to create shafts that are not just stiffer or softer overall, but that have differential flex zones to tailor launch conditions, spin rates, and feedback.
Whether it’s creating a harmonized feel for a smoother release in a Zelos or a firm, responsive tip for the MODUS³ series, MSA provides unparalleled precision in engineering a shaft’s behavior. This opens up new possibilities for performance tuning that are impossible with traditional shaft manufacturing techniques.
In essence, MSA technology helps golfers experience exactly the feel they need for their swing, while also optimizing launch and control characteristics for peak performance on every shot
